Marissa Delano's debut solo exhibition, Depraved Family!!!!!, explores the complexities of the domestic realm through a provocative blend of found materials and reflective surfaces. Through her practice of "availabism," Delano investigates themes of intimacy, corruption, and familial dysfunction, utilizing mirrors as symbolic tools to implicate viewers in their own gaze. The exhibition challenges societal norms surrounding sexuality and gender, inviting participants to engage with hidden narratives and sensory experiences that blur the boundaries between public and private spaces.

Marissa Delano (b. 1991, Columbus, Ohio) is a self-taught artist and writer based in New York City. She holds a B.A. in Literature from Hunter College. Recent exhibitions include NADA & The Salon in Paris, NADA House in NYC, Barely Fair in Chicago, NADA Foreland in Catskill and P.A.D. in NYC and Miami. Recent residencies include Cobertizo (MX) and Virreina (COL).
Her writing has appeared in Topical Cream, Serving the People (STP) and rivulet. She is the founder of Big Fat Baby (BFB) an outlet for artists to collaborate across divergent creative practices.

“Around dusk, we each got called home for supper. I plopped down at the computer for a game of solitaire before it was time to eat. There was dial-up internet but the games I played were entirely offline.
Suddenly, browser windows popped up two, three at a time— over my game of solitaire.
Flashing images popped open. Blinking text underneath.

The girls in the images were prepubescent like me— arms clutched, eyes averted from camera. Having not yet encountered porn, let alone kiddy porn, I was entirely disoriented. Who is this for? What is it for? There was no point of reference. Besides him.
